Recreation Aide (2 Positions)



September – Mid-June 
(Additional hours may be available with the summer camp program Mid-June through August)

Position 1: Before School Program (Mon-Fri 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.)  
(Additional hours may be available during school holidays/breaks.)

Position 2: Wednesdays 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Substitute
The incumbent will provide coverage for shifts in the absence of regularly scheduled staff.  Shifts generally covered are in the AM/PM program located at Cherrydale Primary School.  The AM program runs from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM.  The PM program runs from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.  In addition, hours may be available on school district half days, holidays/holiday breaks. 

Wage: $12.57 Hr. (2017)

Position Description:  Supervise, monitor, evaluate, and assess youth program participants.  Direct and participate in program activities to include:  arts and crafts, sports, games, drama, and music.

Minimum Qualifications:
1.  High school graduation/GED equivalent.
2.  One year experience working with elementary age children in a structured program.
3.  CPR and Basic First Aid Certification (able to obtain within an agreed/specified period).
4.  Washington State Driver’s License / Good driving record.
5.  Washington State Food Workers’ Card (able to obtain within an agreed/specified period).
6.  Availability to work the hours of the position.  

Prefer:  Experience working with children in a preschool, before/after school program or summer camp program.

Physical Requirements:  Driving, walking, running, standing, sitting, squatting, kneeling, ability to lift/move up to 30 pounds, set up tables/chairs, and interact with children in physical exercise, sports, and games. The incumbent must be able to traverse uneven terrain as activities may be conducted in an outdoor environment.

Public Safety Officer (Lateral)



The picturesque Town of Steilacoom is establishing an eligibility list for lateral officers.  Public Safety Officers are cross-trained and have an opportunity to serve the community in the areas of law enforcement and EMS.  Not trained in both disciplines?  Don’t worry!  Training in EMS needed to increase your versatility will be provided.  We think you’ll find life as a Public Safety Officer both diverse and rewarding and encourage law enforcement officers to apply.  The 2016 monthly salary range for this position averages $5,743. – $6,718.  Specialty pay opportunities are available.  Officers are part of the LEOFF 2 retirement system and may participate in a 457 deferred compensation plan.
