Recreation Aides – Summer Camp

Wage/Hours: $12.95 Hr. (June 25, 2018 – August 24, 2018)

Position 2:  8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Monday, Wednesday, Thursday)
Position 3:  6:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)  
Position 4:  8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Tuesday, Thursday, Friday)
Position 5:  8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. (Monday – Friday)
Position 6:  8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Monday – Thursday)
Position 7:  8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Monday, Wednesday, Friday)

Position Description:  Supervise, monitor, evaluate, and assess program participants.  Direct and participate in program activities to include:  arts/crafts, drama, music sports, games, hiking, and swimming.

Minimum Qualifications:
1.  High school graduation/GED equivalent.
2.  One year experience working with elementary age children in a structured program.
3.  CPR and Basic First Aid Certification (able to obtain within an agreed/specified period of time).
4.  Washington State Driver’s License / Good driving record.
5.  Food Handler’s License (able to obtain within an agreed/specified period of time).

Prefer:  Experience working with children in a recreation program.

Physical Requirements:  Frequent walking, running, standing, sitting, squatting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and moving/lifting up to 30 pounds.  Occasionally transport/set-up of equipment tables/chairs. Frequent interaction with children in physical exercise, sports, and games (summer camp program requires constant interaction in these activities).  The incumbent must be able to traverse uneven terrain as activities are frequently conducted in an outdoor environment.  May occasionally drive a van for local field trips.

Terms of Employment:  The Summer Camp program is self-funding.  Participant enrollment must support program costs.  Hours worked will be determined by program participation.

Public Safety Officer (Lateral)

The picturesque Town of Steilacoom is establishing an eligibility list for lateral officers.  Public Safety Officers are cross-trained and have an opportunity to serve the community in the areas of law enforcement and EMS.  Not trained in both disciplines?  Don’t worry!  Training in EMS needed to increase your versatility will be provided.  We think you’ll find life as a Public Safety Officer both diverse and rewarding and encourage law enforcement officers to apply.  The 2016 monthly salary range for this position averages $5,743. – $6,718.  Specialty pay opportunities are available.  Officers are part of the LEOFF 2 retirement system and may participate in a 457 deferred compensation plan.
