  • The Public Safety Department is responsible for providing police, medical aid and fire marshal services for the preservation of life and property through prevention, education, and immediate response to life threatening or potentially life threatening situations.

Any contractor or home owner performing work on a new or existing fire suppression or fire alarm system must apply for a fire suppression permit by filling out the permit application on the right side of this page and submitting it to the Department of Public Safety Fire Marshal Office. A town building permit must be obtained before a fire suppression permit will be issued from the Fire Marshal Office.  Also, please view the brochure on the right side of this page to learn more information about recreational burning in Steilacoom. There is a permanent burn ban on residential burning in Steilacoom which has been declared by the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency and the Steilacoom Fire Marshal Office.
